Greater Purpose

We now have our 2nd full-length CD and we're so excited about it!

The band, Greater Purpose, plays mostly original inspirational Christian music meant to reach people where they are. Meet the current members:

Cathi Burke – Lead vocals and guitar

Cathi grew up on a farm in Maine and was influenced by The Gaithers, Loretta Lynn, Eva Cassidy, and John Denver. She is active in the music ministry at the Farmington Baptist Church and is excited to sing and play with Greater Purpose!

Craig Hutchinson – Guitar and vocals

Craig has always enjoyed music and was influenced by country music and also the acoustic guitar music of the ‘70’s. He is also involved in the music ministry at Farmington Baptist Church and manages the sound system there.

Louise McCleery – Harmony vocals

To live well, live blessed, to bless others, and to laugh often are Louise’s priorities in life. She spends much of her time off helping with the upkeep of the 100+year old family farmstead. She has developed a keen ear to hear and sing the harmony parts of songs and is glad to be able to add her vocals to the Greater Purpose mix.

Alan Hutchinson – Keyboard and strings

Alan has toured Canada and the United States with various Gospel and secular groups. He is currently Worship Pastor at the Peru United Baptist Church in Maine.

Steve Moore - Drums, harmonica, and harmony vocals

Steve has been with Greater Purpose, when we needed him, since the beginning of the band.  He has been playing music and has been in local bands for over 40 years and GP is blessed to have Steve sit in with us not only at concerts but also on both of our CDs and DVD. Steve plays on the worship team at Calvary Hill Baptist Church.

Ivan Moore - Bass, lead guitar and harmony vocals

Ivan has been with Greater Purpose almost as long as his dad, Steve. He is a great musician with a big heart for the Lord. Ivan is Worship Director at Fayette Baptist Church.

John Hellie - Percussion, drums, and harmony vocals

John hails from the mid-west and now lives 'way up in the mountains of western Maine'.  He joined Greater Purpose in the making of their Christmas CD and continued through with his expertise and professionalism on the newest CD, Seasons.

Greater Purpose was born on April 19, 2007 at Craig’s house when the current members first gathered to play some of the songs they’d written. They got together almost every weekend to work on their original music in preparation for the recording sessions at The Studio in Portland, Maine. The first full-length CD entitled ‘Serenity’ was released in March 2008.
